people & events Cupcake Concept Sweetens its Prototype Gigi's Cupcakes, a 91-unit gourmet cupcake and specialty baked goods franchise, has developed a new prototype unit. Unveiled frst in Jonesboro, Ark., Fargo, N.D., and Kansas City, Mo., the new design aims to better showcase the brand's diverse menu, drive sales and improve the overall guest experience. Enhancements include new refrigerated bakery cases, electronic menu boards and several other design elements. Gigi's Cupcakes, which plans to open 25 locations in 2015, offers a variety of gourmet desserts, including 300 rotating cupcake favors, mini cupcakes and custom cakes. AHF Announces 2016 Board of Directors The members of the Association for Healthcare Foodservice Pro- fessionals elected two new offcers and three directors to serve on the organization's 2016 Board of Directors.
