10 • FOODSERVICE EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES • JUNE 2017 people & events FE&S; Names Luke Green 2017 DSR of the Year L uke Green, contract design specialist for Rapids Foodservice Contract & Design in Marion, Iowa, was named the 2017 DSR of the Year by FE&S; magazine. Green accepted his award during FE&S;' 2017 Dealer of the Year and Industry Awards Gala, which took place May 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. "FE&S; is thrilled to present the DSR of the Year Award to Luke Green," said Maureen Slocum, publisher of FE&S.; "We were told by some of his colleagues early-on in the award pro- cess that Luke was a different breed of sales professional, and that proved 100 percent true. His attention to detail and ability to manage a multitude of mov- ing parts on the job site sets him apart from the pack." Green saves customers time and money through his foresight in seeing — and preventing — issues before they arrive. His customers say he brings ideas to the table to resolve problems in advance of them happening, with almost nothing ever fully delegated as Green prefers to stay acutely aware of every detail. He maintains a solid rapport with every welder, plumber, installer, electrician, tiler and safety of- ficer on the work site. Beyond the day-to-day, Green is also a steward of the foodservice indus- try, helping a new generation realize their potential. He speaks to college students with the goal of educating them on the broader opportunities of our industry. After beginning his career in the Rapids warehouse while attending col- lege, Green started to climb the ladder, the installation department being his first step. He moved on to become the warehouse's assistant manager, then moved to the contracts department and finally, in 2011, Green earned the sales position he had coveted. His book of business now includes clients in the business and industry sector, schools, chains and independents.
