30 Foodservice Equipment & Supplies | The NAFEM Show 2019 Planning Guide • The NAFEM Show opened for the •rst time in 1973 in Dallas, with 200 companies exhibiting in 52,800 square feet of exhibit space. • That •rst show drew roughly 3,500 attendees. The NAFEM Show 2019 may be set a new attendance record with NAFEM anticipating 10,500 attendees. • The Orange County Convention Center's North/ South Building comprises 22 acres, which totals 3 million square feet, under one roof. That's enough space to house 200 NBA-size basketball courts. • More than 500 companies will exhibit at The NAFEM Show 2019 in more than 380,000 square feet of exhibit space. • Orlando has hosted The NAFEM Show six times (including 2019), the most of any host city. • Centerplate provides catering and concessions at the Orange County Convention Center. • A 2,000-square-foot "Center-to-Table" vertical indoor garden was added to the LEED Gold-certi•ed convention center in 2016 (in the Westwood lobby). It includes 81 aeroponic growing towers and more than 3,500 plants that provide Centerplate with edible greens and fresh produce. • The operable partition panels in the North/South Building equal 1.65 miles, making it the largest system of its kind in the world. •Laid end to end, the 140,000 linear feet of precast and stone columns in the North/South Building would measure 40 miles, which is 2.7 times longer than the Walt Disney World Resort Monorail. • The main span of the Brooklyn Bridge (all 1,595 feet) could •t inside the convention center's West Building's contiguous exhibition space, which is 2,500 feet in length.
