Fernandez was most recently executive vice president and chief operating ofcer for Apple Metro Inc., a franchisee for Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Manhattan and the New York metropolitan area. The David Burke Group, a multi- concept operator, added the role of CEO to current president Stephen Goglia. Goglia joined the company in 2011 as COO and assumed the additional role of president in March 2012, with responsibility for overseeing day-to-day company relations, internal growth and expansion plans, as well as the revenue and fnance group. John Dawson is the new president and chief execu- tive ofcer for The Cofee Bean & Tea Leaf. He replaces Mel Elias, who served in that role since 2008 and assumes a position on the company's board of directors. Dawson joins The Cofee Bean & Tea Leaf from Dunkin' Brands, where he held various positions over the past eight years, most recently serving as the global development of- fcer of Dunkin' Donuts. Foodservice equipment manu- facturer Henny Penny Corporation promoted Carolyn Wall to the position of chief fnancial ofcer (CFO). Hooters of America appointed Jim Parrish chief operations ofcer and Mark Whittle vice president of North Ameri- can franchise development. Imperial Brown named Richard Burrows regional sales manager of its Central Division in the U.S. ITW Food Equipment Group named Richard Manson business development manager for its Cooking – Chain and Retail Division. Manson is responsible for busi- ness development supporting growth initiatives for the fryer and griddle/ charbroiler business units. Johnny Rock- ets appointed restaurant industry veteran James Walker to the post of chief devel- opment ofcer. Previously, Walker served as the CDO for the Tampa, Fla.- based Beef 'O' Brady's and The Brass Tap concepts. Marine Corporal Daniel Russo was named the 2013 Food Service Special- ist of the Year by the Major General Hill Awards Program. Cpl. Russo, originally from Watertown, Mass., has been an ac- tive member of the USMC since January 2011. Over the past year Russo has been assigned to the 25th Marine Regiment, HQ CO Mess Chief where he supervises meals being prepared for all drill and annual events. During his unit's annual training exercise, Russo established a feld mess and led 15 Marines in support of 8,400 meals and supported the July 4 holiday meal for all elements of the operation. Danielle Brach is the new western regional sales manager for Mofat US, a division of the Ali Group. A veteran of the commercial foodservice industry, Brach's experience includes serving as senior marketing and communications coordinator for Ice-O-Matic. Kevin Anderson was promoted to vice president of company operations for Newk's Eatery, a fast-casual concept. In his new role, Anderson will lead area directors for Newk's nine company-owned restaurants, manage the company's prod- uct testing, and oversee the manager- in-training program as well as new store opening training and development. Multi-concept operator Real Mex Restaurants named Rio Gueli and Mark Bartholomay executive vice presidents of operations. Gueli oversees half of the restaurant operations for the company's diferent concepts, including El Torito, Las Brisas and Who Song & Larry. Gueli also oversees the manager in training program as well as non-exempt team member training programs. Bartholo- may oversees such chains as Chevy's, Acapulco, El Torito Grill, Sinigual and El Paso Cantina. He also oversees banquet/ catering, beverage development, con- struction and facilities. SICO America Inc. promoted Ken Steinbauer to president. SICO is a Minnesota manu- facturer of mobile folding tables, stages and portable dance foors. Susan McNulty is the new director of sales for Singer Equipment Company's National Ac- counts Contract Division. Before join- ing Singer, McNulty spent more than 20 years working at Paramount Restaurant Supply Corporation, based in Warren, R.I. Scott Crane, president of Smash- burger for the past six years, has been appointed chief executive ofcer on the heels of David Prokupek's departure. Chris Yungbluth is the new director of sales for Star Group, part of Star Manufacturing. Yungbluth is respon- sible for leading sales initiatives and strategy in the Midwest Region for com- mercial foodservice brands Star, Holman and Toastmaster. Bob Wright has rejoined Wendy's and will become the company's chief opera- tions ofcer in the frst quarter of 2014. He will replace John Peters, senior vice president of North America Operations.
